AnalogX SimpleServer:Shout is a streaming audio server, just like RealAudio or other servers except it uses Shoutcast-compatible streaming MP3's which can be played in Sonique, WinAmp, Windows MediaPlayer, or anything else that will play Shoutcast streams.

In order to operate an MP3 streaming server, you'll need to set up an audio source - you can find out detailed information plus the tools you'll need to set everything up at:

    http://www.shoutcast.com/download/broadcast.phtml

Once you have everything set up, you're ready to run SimpleServer!

Getting start with SimpleServer is, well, simple - but what else would you expect? For most people, you'll simply have to press 'Start' on the server, and it will say 'Awaiting Encoder', then hit play on your source (WinAmp), and you should start streaming! As soon as the audio stream connects, it will notify any directory servers it's configured to use, and you'll be serving up content; it's that easy!

In the configuration menu, you have a variety of options, most of which are pretty straight-forward - the only tricky option is 'Redirection'. Say there is another server you really like, and you want to make it available to other people on your local network; you can run SimpleServer, enter the address of the server into the Redirection Server field, and then start the server. It will then connect to the stream, and rebroadcast the stream to anyone who connects to your server!

When the server is minimized, it sits happily down on the system tray; if you left-click on it, it will be maximized, if you right-click on it, it will bring up a quick menu to let you start/stop/exit the server.
